What you can do on this page:
Submit a simple online application by completing the Account Owner Information, Bank Information, and Submission sections.
Once your account is established, the account name will be personalized based on your first name as shown in Account Owner Information. You will be able to edit this personalized information at any time using the Account Info tab.
In the Bank Information section, we encourage you to abbreviate or condense the Bank Name and Name(s) on the Account. Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) rules limit the amount of space we can provide.
In the Submission section you certify:
- You have provided your correct taxpayer identification number. (This is typically your Social Security Number.)
- You are NOT subject to backup withholding.
- You are a U.S. person. (You must be a U.S. citizen, resident, or individual who is at least 18 years old with a valid U.S. Social Security Number. You must also have a U.S. address of record and an account at a U.S. depository financial institution that will accept debits and credits using the Automated Clearing House method of payment. We do not currently permit a legal representative, legal guardian, or trustee to establish an account on behalf of an estate, decedent, trust or incompetent person.)
By clicking "Submit" you agree to the following:
- I understand that I am submitting an application for the establishment of an account in TreasuryDirect.
- I acknowledge and accept the terms and conditions as specified in the regulations for TreasuryDirect accounts.
- I agree to accept Form 1099-INT electronically instead of on paper for every year a statement is furnished.
- I certify that all other information on this form, including information about my account at a financial institution, is true, correct, and complete.
HELPFUL HINT: If you don't have a Home Phone and/or Driver's License/State ID, type "None" in the Driver's License/State ID Number box or in the last text box of Home Phone. If you're a member of the military and you don't know your exact Driver's License Expiration Date, you may type "None" in the Driver's License/State ID Number field, and leave the Issuing State and Expiration Date fields blank.
After establishing a TreasuryDirect Primary account, you may create Linked accounts - Minor, Custom, and Conversion accounts. Holdings for each Linked account are kept separately and can be accessed only through your Primary account.
Primary Actions
- Click "Submit" to process your application. This may take up to 60 seconds. If your information is verified, you will be sent to the Choosing a Password page.
- Click "Cancel" to delete your application and return to the TreasuryDirect Home page.
